Acceptable use policy

This is a draft outline. The final text is pending counsel review and will be published before the API opens.

The final policy will cover the headings below. Where we already know a commitment, it is listed.

Prohibited AI practices#

• You may not use Dex for any practice banned by Article 5 of the EU AI Act, such as manipulative techniques that cause significant harm, exploiting people's vulnerabilities, or social scoring.
• The final text will list these practices in full.

Decisions about people#

• You may not use Dex as the sole basis for decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on people without human review, in line with Article 22 of the GDPR.
• Dex supports human review: set min_confidence so that unsure answers abstain and go to a person. See Abstention.

Unlawful use#

• Using Dex to break the law or to process data you have no right to process.

Security and abuse of the service#

• Attempts to get around rate limits, quotas or authentication.
• Sharing or selling access to API keys.

Enforcement#

• What we may do when this policy is broken, from warnings to suspending an account.
• How to report misuse.
